I have this exact model and used it recently to level a shed foundation. It works really well. It works outside in daylight to a certain degree. I used it under trees during the day and it was still visible over 16 feet. A laser level is a game changer for projects like this.

Tripod is a great addition for a lot of applications. Batteries are a plus for me. It's my luck it would need to be recharged and I would have to wait before use. Pop in a couple of batteries. Good to go.

I have this exact model and used it recently to level a shed foundation. It works really well. It works outside in daylight to a certain degree. I used it under trees during the day and it was still visible over 16 feet. A laser level is a game changer for projects like this.

It's the rechargeable portion that makes this a better deal for me! These things chew through batteries.

yeah ,I'd rather buy some rechargeable aa batteries than buy a rechargeable lazer level and wait for it to be charge before you use it or you lose a charge while working.

I have this model. Works exactly as advertised. I keep the batteries out unless I am using it; but also have little kids that easily could mess around with a laser. Definitely need a tripod in my opinion so be sure to have one.

anything with a built in battery is e-waste, especially something you may not generally use all the time. I have a handful of eneloops for a reason, I cannot stand this trend of everything being integrated.

it depends how you use it. The built-in battery makes a good sense for people doing projects often. However for the occasional DIY'er the battery maintenance could become a burden. A drained battery has a higher chance to go bad and make the whole thing a waste.

Exactly. Removable/rechargeable batteries FTW. Even before the integrated battery goes bad, it will lose capacity and soon require recharges more often.

I have this. Actually ordered this last week at the same price without knowing this would have been a deal ... lol
I got it for outdoor use and didn't want to spend ton for one off project. It's not that good, even at it's brightest setting (it has three), in a sunny day; the included strike plate helps a bit though. It works great on a cloudy day or evening.
One thing that I didn't like about this item is that you cannot select between vertical and horizontal lines. I would have much preferred if I could turn off vertical line while working outdoor.
