This is a good deal but there are direct flights and honestly I'd pay more to avoid the hassle of connection in Helsinki.

I fly JFK/HEL at least twice a year. There is a lot of construction in the JFK terminal but it might be done by November. When I was there in May, there was nowhere to eat in the evening other than one fast food.

Finnair still serves one alcoholic drink on the flight but we got just one meal, no breakfast. It was an unpleasant surprise as I had a short connection. Also, Finnair had a pilot strike this summer. My flight got cancelled and had to be rebooked on the phone, it was not fun. In the end, AA took good care but I'll try to avoid Finnair if possible.

HEL airport is pretty cool, lots of Moomin stuff and a cute kids area. Nice cafes near US flights on the way back. Border crossing usually fast.
