not trying to threadcrap but hasn't this model been $299 pretty much everywhere for a few weeks?

I was hoping to find one at $250 or $275 before I have to pull the trigger for college-bound kid.

yup.. 299 is NOT a sale... SD is off my home screen for good. it was a good for years , but last 18 months is full of shills, promotion, or folks who don't know what deal is. Monthly sales are NOT deals, never were. I'll keep SD simple as a reference when I need something... otherwise it's useless.

most posts are regurgitating flyers or major retailers. I suppose SD has to encourage that since evidently true deals are less often the app would be stale

True. I'm a happy Android Tablet user but my budget model lags in every category. It is good for what I need it for, but $300 for any tablet seems to be the sweet spot for the beginning of having something productive. My better Android tablets seems to go toe-to-toe with a similarly priced Apple product.
