I have had a larger one for years. I use it pretty regularly. It's way cheaper at the butcher to pick up a large pack of, say, chicken breasts... I keep one out and vacuum seal the rest individually. Usually flatten them a bit for quicker defrosting and even cooking later, then freeze the rest. Take one out of the freezer and toss it in the fridge in the morning, and it's ready to cook by the time I get home. You can toss some dry spices on them before you freeze them too. Haven't done it in a while, but I used to freeze portions of asparagus with pepper, garlic, and lemon. Freeze them and sous vide them later.
I'm considering this smaller one because my kitchen is small with VERY limited counter space. I'd like to swap my big one from something that takes less room.

This one only works with smaller 8" bags. I need one that works with 11" bags.

Seems like it's too good but I'll take a chance with Apple Pay.

I picked this up during the previous deal and it works just fine. No complaints really despite taking a chance at a retailer I had never heard of.

Don't know about this particular model but I thought I read somewhere there's a hack where you can seal larger size bags on some models. You just have to seal the open end more than once.

For those that have something like this, do you use it often? I'm worried I'll buy it and then it sits on my shelf for 3 or 4 months, only being used once before I toss it in the cabinet.

Vacuum sealing smoked pork butt or chopped brisket /chicken and then freezing and sous vide reheating when you're ready keeps it awesome tasting and moist and it's incredibly easy. Vacuum sealing extra steaks from Costco keeps the freezer burn away. Easy to place the bag in water in the fridge to thaw. I use mine for anything I'm going to freeze. It's also good to take to work and vacuum seal people's staplers, pens, family photos, keyboards. It works well for dehydrated foods too to last forever and I'll take them on trips.

Not quite as cheap but this is the one I use regularly and it has 11.8" capacity.

I don't like the plastic waste but I suppose if I bought smaller portions that would be more packaging as well.

Depends on the person but I use mines regularly. I seal steak, fajitas, chicken all the time. I also seal hamburger meat, cookies actually just about anything that I throw in the freezer. Lol

What is the advantage of using one of these instead of just using a ziplock freezer bag?

It's difficult to get off their email list once you order, so choose which email you use if you buy from them. Slight annoyance. Decent deals.

Removes more air from sealed package to help preserve frozen items longer. Generally thicker plastic in sealer bags. Also good to waterproof things to take outside. And to protect important papers, etc. for the "go bag" that many of us find ourselves now needing to have ready.

The biggest thing is that since damn near all the air is out, food stays preserved far longer. Also ziplock seals 'leak' a bit, and freezer burn is inevitable. Vacsealing on the other hand is literally airtight and so things keep far better, especially in the freezer.

If you shop at a bulk store (Costco, Sam's etc.) then these are great! You can buy larger packages of meat, ground beef, etc. then portion and vac seal which saves a ton of money over individually packaged versions.
