No idea how the high end JBL turntables are, but this is a huge drop from the $1000+ it was being pushed at in a few home audio stores I went to. Seems they didn't sell well.
Looks amazing in person, this wood grain is the best I've seen that style done. Would normally be a turn off.

Wouldn't be high on my list to recommend at the $1,100 price point. However, I'd MAYBE consider it if this is in your price range. I was surprised to see such an entry-level cartridge (AT-VM95E) on a turntable. However, the removable head shell and adjustable VTA is nice and gives you a lot of flexibility with cartridge upgrade path.
A decent amount of value at the low-to-mid-range price point, but I'd sooner recommend the Pro-Ject Debut Carbon EVO 2 at $100 more (or any number of turntables at the ~$1,000-$1,300 price point).
It looks good, but I wouldn't pick it over my $500 Fluance RT85. It's got an acrylic platter and a $150 Ortofon cartridge vs the aluminum platter and $50 cartridge in this JBL.
