These are lightweight frames with low weight limits, and are not rated for heavier riders. Check the Dahon website for weight limits, most of these listings don't include it.

That said - Dahon makes quality folding bikes and are one of the oldest brands in the space.

Thumbs up for the bike deal. I have the MU D8 for I think 5 years. Super solid and durable bike for how light it is and held up well to my 30 miles/week commute for the 5 years. Only had to repair tubes/replace tires and brake pads in addition to the annual tune up. Highly recommend.

Dahon makes great bikes, I also have an old superlight bike and it's in my rotation when I feel like messing around and don't mind the twitchiness of the old SL.

That K9 foldable is only a hair over 23 lbs (with disc brakes). That's fairly impressive for a foldable bike in this price range.

Dahon makes decent bikes but be careful if you run into any issues. I bought a Mariner D8 a few months ago off this site and it came with a defective saddle. Instead of sending me a new one or crediting me, their only solution was to return it and send a whole bike replacement which seemed extreme for a saddle... I ended up keeping the bike and buying a new saddle on my own dime. Great bikes! would buy again.

30 pounds is decent for the cheap one. Considering it for a cheap second bike. My XP 3.0 LR is heavier and that's not fun. Considering this as a cheap backup.

I've had a dahon speed uno for many years now and it's great. That being said, I have no idea why anyone would need gears on these. The wheels are so small any hill is still easy.

I have speed uno for a long time too, no cables to deal with, love it. Speed is limited due to single gear, can avg 10 mph.

Polygon Urbano 3 or 5 are better for the same price ($500 and $549.99) - I have a 5 and it has hydraulic disc brakes and 9-speed shimano sora drive train.

How do you like the Urbano 5? any issues with it if you've been riding it for a while

Been solid so far, the hydraulic brakes are nice to have in fast down hills, hit 34 mph downhill once. Climbing is decent except at 10-12% grade. Sora shifts smooth. I've been riding it more than all my other bikes

The Carerra intercity disc is what it's called in Europe if you want more reviews.
