If the YouTube influencers you're thinking of are Gamers Nexus and Hardware Unboxed, while they have crapped on 8 GB thoroughly, they haven't said that it shouldn't exist. They've said something along the lines of 8 GB shouldn't cost more than $300 (5060 Ti 8GB came in at a $379 MSRP), and that ideally it should be closer to $200, which this price definitely is. They are also not trying to sell you new hardware because they have harshly criticized GPUs at all price tiers. If you want to be very uncharitable, you can say they're selling outrage, but there's truth in the 8 GB criticisms.

You do not have to work hard to find scenarios where 8 GB suffers from poor performance at 1080p in newer games. Not just 4K or 1440p, but 1080p. Since we have multiple cards that are virtually identical except for the memory capacity, it's very easy to test and see huge drops in average framerates and 1% lows. This will certainly get worse in the coming years. The next generation could see Nvidia, AMD, and Intel all putting 12 GB GDDR7 on 128-bit cards, providing a cheaper alternative to 16 GB clamshell 128-bit cards, but enough VRAM for 1080p.

You are definitely getting hosed when a fundamentally powerful card like the 9060 XT, 5060 Ti, 3070, etc. gets 8 GB, since the additional VRAM can instantly make 1440p/4K viable in some games. Because to get to that "Ferrari" level, costs the manufacturer maybe an additional $20-30. Certainly a lot less than the crazy gap seen here ($224 8 GB vs. ~$370 16 GB). So the guy praying for a $275 9060 XT 16GB is onto something, although that isn't happening anytime soon.

Obviously, 8 GB can still be fine for many people, and that includes playing new games, not just old ones. You can tinker with settings, lower texture quality, and make it work better. This is a good price for a fast 8 GB card, and currently the cheapest way on the planet to get access to FSR4.

Why say things that are just not true? Sure its not good for 4k gaming at all but at 1080P its perfectly relevant. Yes, many people still game at 1080p.

Crazy performance for the price, 8gb of VRAM notwithstanding.

Thanks, just reserved one for pickup. I sometimes see the open box cards for somewhere around this price, but typically a bit higher, so getting a brand new one for this price is great, even with it only having 8GB vram. Its still gonna outperform the majority, if not all of the other 8GB gpus on the market. Every other 9060 XT 8gb model at microcenter is at least $40 more, at least at the Columbus store.

I am not thrilled that this card is crippled with 8GB. However, it outperforms other 8GB cards such as the 4060, 3060 TI, & 4060 TI. Comparable performance to a 3070. At $225 it actually becomes a pretty good value.

Tested it, works great at 1080p no upscaling and 1440p with fsr4 & FG.

1. Sale price, not open box.
2. Sapphire
3. You can reserve it online, no need to rush into the store.

I guess that tells us about 9060 XT 8GB's future. Great price.

Now THIS makes sense at this price, it needed to get under $250 to really make any sense to buy because above $250 it was just too close to cards with a lot more VRAM

A 16GB version for $275 would have me running. This…eh. Good deal for those who want it.

This card is faster than the $249 intel B580. That's for sure.
