Works on other Multitools:

Wave - $90
ST 300 - $75
Charge - $120
Skeletool - $56

For Victorinox fans....
Swiss Army Deluxe Tinker: $51

Probably good for others...I just don't want to go through the entire list [campmor.com].

For what it's worth, aliexpress has leatherman clones for like $40 to $50 that are actually decent
These can be warrantied and from what I have seen the quality is higher.

If your use case is light duty/infrequent, maybe just go with the Skeletool. The Wave is the best selling multi-tool of all time, though.

I have the Wave+ bought it a few years ago for $20 at the Texas State Surplus Store, where all TSA take aways end up. It still looks brand new.

You can buy huge lots of confiscated MT's and knives stolen by TSA. That's where a lot of the ebay sellers get their inventory. And it also explains why there are so many Micras for sale there.

Is it me or have these gotten obscenely expensive? I remember getting these for like $40-50 a few years ago. Maybe I'm just getting old and remembering wrong.

I'd rather spend the money and get a real Leatherman. I have sent my Leatherman's in for a return 3x now and they come back perfect (and it's clearly MY knife that they fixed). I even busted the tip off a blade and they fixed that no questions asked. It's about a 3 week turn around time - but what you get back is perfect, with just a perfect amount of patina left over so you know it's your original that they painstakingly rehabbed by hand.
I love AliExpress knockoffs for some things - this? No way. Leatherman are top tier.

I can't understand how this company is devoid of self-awareness so much as to confuse basking in the respect of old followers for new hype.
At this point LM are totally demented and collectively lost all their marbles to see anyone is going to dump a hatful of money for another obscure piece of ill designed multitool passed along for the next best thing after sliced bread.
Imagine writing this drivel thinking you're waxing poetic.

You're remembering 10+ years ago.
You're paying for US employees to make decent wages on lifetime guaranteed tools. I think the price is fair and sustainable.

I bought Skeletools for all my groomsman in 2013. They were on sale for around $60 back then IIRC, so probably misremembering.

They haven't been that cheap outside of clearance deals (like some at costco).
The price of the surge, for example, is the same as it was 5 years ago when I bought mine.
