How does this compare to the Creality K1 SE? I think they're similar in price.

I dont think so. I would rather spend another 100 for the elegoo centuri carbon for the fully enclose one.

That depends. The closest on price is the A1 mini which has a significantly smaller build volume but is quieter while printing. For a bit more there is the A1 which has a somewhat larger build area. Keep in mind that 220x220 used to be the "standard" build plate size and lots of models are sized for that area. However, thanks to BL, 250x250 is becoming a new "standard size".

From a hardware perspective, the 5M is great and when given a good print file it's going to delivery great results.

Where the BL wins is better software. The BL website makes it much easier to download a file, have it do a custom slice for your printer and filament and then network to the printer.

However, if you want to do your own slicing (or get a file from a non BL site) or if you want to keep your printer off the network then the software gap closes. The 5M works with standard Orca slicer. So you may need to learn about slicing but you aren't going to fight the machine itself. Slice I learned a bit about slicing the benefit to Bambu aren't that big for me and I like keeping all this hardware of the network.
