Just a caveat: Vega 8 graphics, released in 2019. Make sure you know your needs/limitations before thinking, "Ryzen under $200! Gotta get it!"

Passmark is about 5% faster in single thread and 30% faster in multi thread for the 3550h vs n150.

With $30 more than the n150 box deal, this seems a better deal

"Normal" price for this thing used to be around $220, and it frequently goes on sale for $150 according to Keepa. The "normal" price was raised to $240 in July. So this is a decent deal, just not the screaming good deal that this bogus MSRP would have you believe.

3550H will be faster for both CPU and graphics.

Thanks for the answer, I was not expecting even with ddr5, n150 is not as good as ddr4 ryzen

The vanilla DDR5 and DDR4 are no different in real-life usage. A normal user wouldn't feel an ounce of difference.

The Ryzen just has a lot more stream processors. Even with the older Vega architecture, this 8 CU Vega is close to a 64 EU intel UHD iGPU in terms of power. The N150 only has 24 CUs and single channel ram, so the 3550H is more powerful at the cost of higher power draw and heat

Intel N150 is a 6W CPU. AMD 3550H is a 35W CPU. AMD is wasting a lot of electricity for slightly better performance. Reports indicate that even idling AMD takes up 15W or so compared to Intel's 1-2W for idle.

I was about to get the AMD, but I think I will go for the Intel instead.

Can anyone comment if this would be a good, long term option to run home assistant? This device will run 24/7 so I need to keep the electricity usage in mind. Thank you.

Also curious. That & how stable are these for (24/7) office use.

I went with the bosgame 5800u because the U version of the processor is much more power efficient. Mine runs 24-7 and other than a couple issues of it freezing over 2 entire years its been very stable. As a sidenote: I do have a gaming keyboard hooked up to mine which tells me it malfunctioned from time to time but I think its an issue with the hub or the keyboard itself. They actually had pretty decent hardware modules crucial ssd and Kensington ram, not bad for a budget builder.
