Does the difference in speed make a practical difference?
I suspect some of you are following this much more closely than I am. Thanks!
And the best one for using on both operating systems?
I'm just going to load audio files on it.
i stay away from sandisk now, but yeah this drive and samsung (T7's, etc) work brilliantly.

This particular drive has a USB 3.2 interface, which maxes out at 10Gbps = 1,250 MB/ sec. I agree, of course, that the hardware is not bottlenecked by the interface speed. Even if it were a Thunderbolt 5 drive, it could not be any faster.
The question remains, when will we get faster drives at this price? To answer my own question, the X10 Pro is 2x the speed of the X9 Pro and is only marginally more expensive when on sale. Alas that drive has an interface (USB 3.2 Gen 2x2) that almost no devise has. So it is pointless for most people. Regardless, it appears that drives that can achieve 2,000 MB/sec are only marginally more expensive to make than drives that do 1,000 BM/sec. Faster drives are significantly more expensive though.
