I bought this for my budget build.

Having said that I can't even think what a more expensive motherboard would do better that I need... Unless you're specifically looking for certain appearance or you have some real specialty needs just buy the cheapest good board...

Getting a 7800x3d for 300. Kinda wished I got 9800x3d but I'm still going to use a 1080ti for the time being, so it doesn't really matter realistically....

I'm reusing my cooler with free socket brackets. reusing power supply, case and gpu.

32GB ram and 2TB nvme 4.0 drive off AliExpress for like 120 after cashbacks

coming from a 4790k 11 year old rig

this is a really good board. apparently highly rated in some youtube tier list that my son referred to when buying the V2 version of this same board recently. we considered whether to get v1 or v2 and apparently there is not much difference (layer count is higher in V1 and VRM is apparently better in v2). We just went with the newer one. paid 185$ + tax.

I am doing my AM5 build next year probably when I can get a decent price on a 5070 Super, should I buy this now or is that just a little premature?

I am waiting for another price drop on a 7800X3D then buying that as well. Slowly getting my parts over the course of 4-6 months

Why not build the AM5 now, and put the GPU in when you find one? If it's a money issue I'd say save till you can buy enough to make use of it. It's usually a safe bet that computer hardware will get cheaper (or you'll get something better for your money) so it's usually a waste to buy it for your closet. Start a "new pc" fund and imagine the parts it will buy instead of risking seeing a motherboard in your closet and wishing it was a better one that is now on sale. The money will gain interest, the closet parts depreciate. Price mistakes and such being an obvious exception.

Just something to think about I guess. You do you.

I got this board from woot on the last deal and paired it with a 7800x3d. Everything works great. The only downside is the gigabyte rgb software is crap. With it installed it made all my rgb flicker so I had to remove it and use windows 11 dynamic lightings(Signalrgb works also)

I don't see motherboards getting much cheaper than this. If anything they may go up in price

I bought my CPU used to save money you might want to look into that... eBay or Facebook market

Everything getting more expensive is getting me worried, I was planning to get my stuff from Black Friday onwards but if I do it now it kind kills my monthly budget.

Found out these and some other gigabyte boards don't enable secure boot with windows 11 by default. I toggled it to custom and reset factory keys and it's active now.

I purchased 2 of these and just installed one. I am 100% pleased! Both are version 1.1 and the installed one had a 1 yr old bios F31. I updated to the latest F35 that has 9xxx cpu support. This has sturdy heatsinks and the integrated backplate is my favorite motherboard feature. Bios features are great, I turned on Expo with cl32 DDR 6000 and Curve Optimizer without any issue. You can spend a lot more money on a fancier board, but certainly for gaming I don't think you will be able to tell the difference but your wallet will! Unless you are getting a Microcenter bundle, this is a no brainer for a full size ATX board.
