my Costco has this controller in stock, but with the star of death. Meaning they will not restock after they run out. So while they may continue to be available online, I wouldn't count on them being available in store forever

BB price matched. Also applied a trade-in for a PS5 controller. $62.40 out the door.

Nice deal, I might pick this up to see what the HD Rumble 2 is all about. Previously I ended up getting the 8Bitdo Ultimate 2 Bluetooth Controller after doing some research. Do your own research, but a very short summary below:

8BitDo Ultimate 2: more paddles + deep remapping/tuning capabilities + PC/Android support + charging base + TMR Joysticks + Hall effect triggers + RGB + Bluetooth or 2.4ghz dongle included

Switch 2 Pro: seamless Switch features (HD Rumble, amiibo) + longer battery

Be sure to check the stick calibration when you get yours, mine looked fine but was actually tilting to the side a bit.

I hate to be this person but if you are considering the Switch 2 Pro controller you might want to take a look at the iFixit video review of it and then consider cheaper better alternatives (that will be significantly less likely to suffer from stick drift). Just a suggestion to throw out there.

iFixIt's teardown is required viewing before purchasing. This is not designed to be a serviceable controller including the battery -- a sharp break from Nintendo's past consoles. https://youtu.be/awEY5OGvIXE?si=td5xsB3b4abZugxx

Wrong video link.

But also stop with the hyperbole - "not serviceable" is just not true. Even saying "serviceable at best" would be a stretch. If it were truly that bad it would be making headlines. I'm not Nintendo defender, but get real.

I haven't done deep research, but last I saw no. Not sure if this is something that will get figured out or is just the way it is. Probably Nintendo pulling shenanigans to handicap 3rd party controllers unfortunately. I just can't believe how low quality the components and repairability of the Switch 2 Pro controller is for a really premium price, they didn't even do hall effect or TMR joysticks which would guard against stick drift, you can get controllers that are $30-$50 that have those. Nintendo should be doing better.
Is it a bad controller, arguably no (though there is an argument even sub $30 controllers do better in many ways), is it a bad controller for the price, absolutely yes.

I'll say quoting someone with a made up quote is an odd choice. They didn't say "not serviceable" they said "This is not designed to be a serviceable controller including the battery" which I think is an accurate statement. In a lot of ways it's almost like it's designed to be as hard to service as possible. Be upset and demand more from Nintendo not people who are doing reasonable comparisons to competitors. There is no reason they shouldn't be making a controller that is at least close to as repairable as the other options out there. Other than either they just don't care or greed to make it harder to repair on purpose. Take your pick but demand better you and everyone else deserves it.

All that was required for past controllers/GBA/3DS was removing one screw and the battery cover. SW2Pro requires dissolving the glue underneath the faceplate. That's a sharp break from design traditions at Nintendo. Also, not serviceable != not designed to be user-serviceable. It's an important callout given the price.
