Came here to say that I bought this last year and it's been great playing switch on it. Note that the controller can't turn on the switch unfortunately and can't use amiibo.

When I tried playing on pc with this and the USB dongle, I don't know if it's my setup but I see a notable lag between inputting command and seeing movement on the game. Fortunately my games are not fast paced, most are strategies / turn based, but is still quite painful to use.

Still recommended for switch use though. Much better than the Nintendo controllers and more affordable too.

Also bought this last year for Switch.

I don't care for it. Imo takes too much pressure to push down on dpad. I don't use it.

The one for pc, trigger has flaw it will cut into the rubber and render it useless, not sure about this one, the new one with Hall effect trigger fixes the flaw

I bought this controller because of the price, but I prefer the Ultimate 2 for Switch and even my cheap 2C Bluetooth.

Normally I prefer the LT/RT "triggers" but for Switch, the games are mostly designed for those to be buttons, so I like "2" controller because it can be either. (2C has buttons only)

I don't know if the D-pad is shit. I don't play many games that require it to be great.

The controller CAN turn on the Switch 1 (but not 2) via Bluetooth mode as long as the controller was previously BT connected to the system. You just need to press the 8bitdo button and give the controller a good shake.

---

This is a good deal for the Ultimate 1, but I will say that it's worth keeping an eye out for the Ultimate 2 to go on sale because the incremental improvements are worth the extra $. The buttons are better molded and have a snug/responsive feel, the togglable trigger/tactile switches work extremely well on the fly considering there are many Switch titles that don't even register trigger sensitivity, and BT feels noticeably faster to wake and maintains stable connection vs Ultimate 1. I don't have a Switch 2 to know, but the extra button on the Ultimate 2 looks to work for the additional feature on that system, so it'd be a good transition controller between the two systems at this point in time.

I have the Ultimate 2 and from what I've heard in reviews the D-pad is an improvement over the Ultimate, but I think it's rather lacking especially compared to the D-pad on the 8bitdo Pro.

Edit - I've tried to make the link I copied better but it just won't work. This white one has a coupon for 40.95https://www.amazon.com/Ultimate-Bluetooth-Controller-Compatible-Gaming-Console/dp/B0DFGZL87S/ref=pd_aw_di_ci_mcx_2l_mi_ca_mcx_picks_views_2?pd_rd_w=p5hm6&content-id=amzn1.sym.a86d3852-da08-4b0d-964a-84fd9c6a3b02%3Aamzn1.symc.4999b64d-f0ac-4600-822c-75f4facae580&pf_rd_p=a86d3852-da08-4b0d-964a-84fd9c6a3b02&pf_rd_r=FVM9MDGEJC1MM6BEK5Z9&pd_rd_wg=CRyqZ&pd_rd_r=fe61144b-1643-404d-96b1-21795c33946d&pd_rd_i=B0DFGZL87SIs this the same model, just white??

Got this and was disappointed. Trigger issue and was not comfortable. Ended up getting the pro 2 controller which is amazing.

This or Vader 4 Pro for PC gaming?
For PC gaming, Vader 4 Pro because if you put it in DirectInput mode, you can remap the extra keys, and get gyro with analog triggers with Steam Input. With the Ultimate Bluetooth, you either have to use it in XInput mode, which don't give you gyro. Or Switch mode, that don't give you analog triggers. And neither separate out the extra buttons. Vader 4 Pro does the same in those modes, but the DirectInput mode gives access to all those features.
8bitdo's newer controllers support this too: https://www.8bitdo.com/steam/ But not this one. I do think 8bitdo is better because they did contribute code for this compared to Vader 4 Pro that got reverse engineered support, so the newer ones like the Apex 4/5 don't work with this.

The 8BitDo Ultimate Bluetooth Controller happens to be one of my fav controllers when playing games or emulating Switch on PC. I actually beat the whole game of Marvel's Spider-Man 2 using the white controller variant. I liked the controller so much that I bought a second one in black this past March.
