I bought one for my mother and she said it's working. I wouldn't believe my mother. She's probably paying some subscription and an offshore scammer is sending her pictures of birds.

BTW, "Most bird feeder cameras" also take SD cards. Getting those files onto a PC (then online) requires zero plan and is objectively not a "scam."
What does cost: Cloud storage, AI bird recognition (submit a snapshot to Google images for free instead.).
