Weakest link is the 62.5% rgb screen but overall a good price for lunar lake.

Needing a laptop for a high school student, who is not a big gamer or computer science major. I purchased the Dell 2 in 1 for $500, but is this the better deal?

Both are going to be about the same quality, performance, and battery life. You really can't go wrong with either as a lower price computer that looks good and should perform fine for a student for a few years.

I got this laptop the other day and I'm happy with it for the most part.

The speakers are just okay on them which I expected. Screen isn't the best but wasn't the worst from what I've seen in store. That prize goes to Dells 2-1 version of this. The colors on the Dell seemed so washed out and extremely dim. I guess they had to cut corner somewhere to match manufacturing price point. Omni book x flip 14 is a middle tier screen.

I'm getting 9-10 hours at best on average out of the battery doing basic tasks if anybody is wondering

I shy away from 2-n-1 laptops because of hinges breaking. Is that just a Lenovo thing, or is a reasonable concern here too? (My daughter is still rocking a laptop with a Ryzen5-2500, so, you know, it might be time for an upgrade).

In the market, 2-in-1 refers to the ability to be used as a tablet. The keyboard in this model folds back.

It's always a concern for any laptop manufacturer, but the risk can be greatly decreased with gentle use. Avoid folding it back quickly, rather a controlled movement and it will last. At least that's been my experience being in tech.

I picked this up today. For my use case it is totally adequate, assuming I can get at least 8 hours of battery from it. I was a bit surprised to see how much different the build is from my OmniBook X 14 (not flip) Snapdragon model. The Intel Flip version has a much thicker monitor (maybe that's intentional?) and obviously a different keyboard, but it does add a second USB-A and HDMI port.

I've sworn off Asus laptops because of the hinges breaking on two different 2in1 laptops I've bought from them recently. Well that and their horrifyingly bad customer service.
