What's wrong with filtering? Trying to filter 'Kids' deals with no success.

After deciding it's time to leverage filtering to cut down on the sheer volume of posts I'm not interested in, I've noticed a weakness in the filtering. I have searched and 'excluded' all categories with 'kids' in it, saved the resultant filter, yet still have Kids stuff (Legos, diapers, squishmallows) with the category 'Kids' in my refined view. Am I doing something wrong?
