Has anyone ever flown united long haul flight? I have only flown short trips and united is fine, but 17 hours in that seat seems uncomfortable.

I've flown with them multiple times (3-5 times round trips per year to Singapore or other long haul flights) they are ok. Have paid WiFi depends on the plane type and the service isn't bad. Just be ready for the long haul. Get some neck rest and things to snack on. Basic economy is meh imo pricing is good thou. Their points are probably the most worth out of all US airlines.
For Singapore be ready for the humidity and the heat and expensive everything lol.

Get premium economy at least. Also take food with you. United does not feed a jack shit. I took pancakes and eggs from IHOP. Not kidding.

I usually end up fasting during flights, even in premium economy—not by choice.

This.

I always bring a meal or two in the form of a stromboli, sandwich or pizza slices.

United food out of LAX is mid to bad depending on whats available.

Most long haul planes and seats are far different than their domestic brethren. So if you plan for the domestic version of the seat, you can make it in the long haul one. Premium economy is like the first class of eras ago, and they are far nicer and a worthwhile upgrade. I've done 8hrs in one of those and it really didn't phase me and I was able to sleep pretty well.

For long trips like this a good set of headphones are essential. Because if you have a screaming baby nearby, it will be 17 hours of that.

And food, I always stock up on food like I'm never going to have any ever again before departing any flight. Nothing contributes more to hangry than hunger...

Flew Air Canada YVR-SIN.... I'm sure that United is a dream compared to that.

Funny story time.

So I have a regular flight for work that basically takes me across the entire nation. And generally I'm not getting food on those flights or have time at the connection so it's like going a whole day without food. So I will typically load up on food at the origin. And since it's a day I'll usually get a whole fresh pizza which is about 4 slices.

Well, one fine day I was looking at the menu and the larger size was just $5 more and I knew I was more hungry than normal so I ordered it instead. What came out was like a 2 foot box with 8 slices! lol! So I ate two slices and then looked like a pizza delivery guy on the plane when boarding, lmao. I didn't even get any 'you brought enough for me' jokes because it really looked like I brought a whole pizza for someone lmao!

I had a window seat so I could flip the box on its end and tuck it between the seat and the wall since it wouldn't fit any other way and putting it up top would mean squish. But I was right about my hunger--there was only two slices left when I got to my destination.

Going to the most first world place on earth on United 🤣 🤣 🤣 this has got to be a joke. Unless of course, it's United operated by Singapore Air. I will take a Scoot flight before I do United First Class lol

Doesn't United have free WiFi on the plane? Or at least free messaging?

My sister flew to Japan from Chicago last summer and she was messaging me the entire time.

I fly international frequently for work. Been doing it for years. I've never seen so many empty seats on planes as I do now. Domestically the loads are consistently full but even then I occasionally see more empty seats than I usually would.
