So, when beautiful nightclub chanteuse Jennie (Sally Yeh) is blinded in the crossfire of his most recent hit, Jeffrey chooses to retire after one last job to pay for his unintended victim's sight-restoring operation. But when Jeffrey is double-crossed, he reluctantly joins forces with a rogue policeman (Danny Lee) to make things right.

    • Masterful Hong Kong action director John Woo (The Killer, Face/Off) turns in this exciting and pyrotechnic tale of warring gangsters and shifting loyalties. Chow Yun-fat (The Replacement Killers) plays a take-no-prisoners cop on the trail of the triad, the Hong Kong Mafia, when his partner is killed during a gun battle. His guilt propels him into an all-out war against the gang, including an up-and-coming soldier in the mob (Tony Leung) who turns out to be an undercover cop. The two men must come to terms with their allegiance to the force and their loyalty to each other as they try to take down the gangsters. My Hong Kong cinema movies are usually at least 6.99, unless there's a bundle special. I believe it's because it's not a mainstream movie and lacks interest. Last time I bought a Donnie Yen bundle, it was 4.99 per movie.

Although historians say HARD BOLED was intentionally created by John Woo to be his stepping stone to main stream Hollywood, if there is only one classic Hong Kong action movie to suggest, it would be THE KILLER.
