Yep, you def don't want this for that kind of task. I was given a Fanttik S1 Pro and that def does the job you're talking about (though they have other versions).

The bits are tiny. Is this screwdriver intended solely for precision (low torque) tasks? I need an electric screwdriver for general household use, like installing cabinets or putting together office furniture.

Watch this review: https://youtu.be/fkbTNMh5zLM?si=Y...Apparently Amazon basic one is good. It do not comes with case or anything, and only limited heads, but for day to day stuff it should be good.

Thanks, picked one up.

Note: There is a model that costs $4 which includes a case plus more extra bits. However, I already have plenty of bits and the case is a bit too bulky. Instead, I'll use a reinforced mesh zipper bag that's easier to slip into my toolbox. I find them useful in organizing my loose tools. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07RGHT11D

Are there small electric screwdrivers like this that have a clutch? It's so hard to control these and I hate how they jam a screw into the sometimes very soft plastic.

You're going to want something like this:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DV3XN...in_title_1

I've had mine since February & I've used for assembling various things (ikea furniture, cat trees, etc). It's been wonderful & I wish I had this when I first moved out on my own.

I have this kit and love it, but I assemble/disassemble mini pc/laptops often. It's perfect for that. However don't get this for anything else — just not enough torque.
This is light weight but tradeoff is little torque

Seriously, how many of you are buying these to actually fix things? Or is this like a gift and nice-to-have items?

IIRC the Dremel/Bosch ones have clutches and rated pretty well by Project Farm. More expensive though and not sure the lightest clutch setting is light enough for soft plastic.

No, in the form factor of a portable screwdriver (stick, not pistol handle).

Definitely a convenience purchase. I already have ratcheting screwdrivers and portable drill-drivers up the ying-yang.
