My best friend and I are trying to beat this game on max difficulty co-op and we can't get past the third boss we pick. This is a very tough but fair game. You can unlock new characters by spending tokens on them (higher difficulty modifiers reward you with more tokens) and they just came out with Evil Marian and Super Anubis as part of free DLC earlier this week you can unlock.
You can pick from one of 4 characters to fight (think like a Megaman game), and each character you beat after playing their Level makes each subsequent character you fight more difficult by giving tougher enemies on the stage and each stage will get longer.
Very fun if you're into beat-em-ups and a great price too.
