A $5 scale rated for up to 400 lbs (without any other features) really is a solid price... until you realize the biometric features only work using an app on your phone which requires bluetooth permission.

Not sure I understand your comment, but this scale does give your weight on its LED display standalone, without needing any hookup to a bluetooth app.

If you want the other advanced features (BMI, body fat, muscle mass, etc), then an app would be required.

Added the clarification in my original post. I was indeed griping about all the functionality beyond weight being locked behind the app.
(In contrast to my 18 year old - and currently failing - Taylor scale which does similar body impedance tricks but manages to put them on the main display)

I'll be grabbing one and am interested to learn the truth behind the claimed 400 lb weight limit on the scale.
