Keep in mind that is on the old benchmark. Looks like they haven't re-tested it on the new one that is significantly harsher. I'd expect this to be more like 6.6 were it to be tested on that benchmark.

My TCL TV drives me crazy with unremovable and unblockable ads. Any idea if this one has forced ads?

I don't know Pi-hole but am interested. Can you build Roku specific iptables? An internet search of "roku pi-hole iptables" provides some interesting ideas.
I have an older 65" and know I'll need to upgrade it some day. Pi-hole may be in my future.

Apple TV. I'll not go back to Roku. Loved it way back, but now they are more focused on advertising and selling your data. Plus they increasingly become slower.

$400? Man, I remember paying $850 for a 27 inch RCA Colortrak XL-100 tv back in the 80's. $400 = disposable in my book. Ratings smatings.

I have a Element 65" Roku TV and have no ads from Element. Is this what you mean?

There's always a big ad on the right of my channel selection that a pi-hole doesn't/can't block. Then lately they've also been injecting extra options in my main menu (on the left) which I found out you can "hide" in settings, but they just add a new one later. Maybe twice a month so it's not worth going in and hiding the extra options. My family doesn't watch sports and the extra options and the big ad are almost always sports. Sometimes they advertise horror stuff, and I have little kids that just want to watch their cartoons.

Can I get some pro opinions from budget TV / deal hunter experts? Do you think it is likely a better $400 65"TV deal will happen on Labor Day? This will be going on a wall opposite a big window that lets a lot of daylight in. Please check your crystal balls and reply

what stupid conjecture. All of the rtings are old and this is a SOLID TV for the price. One of the best rtings ratios to price (e.g. slickdeals) that is out there. Please post alternative 65" with better rtings and cheaper/equivalent price if I'm wrong.

Roku continues to be the fastest and most efficient OS, less ad bloat than amazon and less costly than appleTV.

If you like the Roku ecosystem/experience and want 65" this will be hard to beat. Personally I love Roku over google tv, it's way cleaner and I never have issues with it, google seems to have buffer/memory issues in their OS. At this price range for this size, I think this will be hard to beat. I wouldn't hesitate on this for a budget option or as a secondary TV for a bedroom, kid's play room, or something. bestbuy also has this 65R4A5R/65R4AX [bestbuy.com] for 349.99 which is the 2023 version I believe.

If you're completely OS agnostic there are cheaper google or fire tv options in this size with comparable ratings. So it might be good to look at those and specifically how they handle reflection/bright rooms.
