Got these last time and I don't like the way they were designed. The USB-C plug easily detaches from the USB-A part too easily, so you will often think things were charging and find out it was 1/16" separated and not charging.
I've been using the 6.6 ft of these for travel and they are great for charging! Basically can plug them into any USB port I run across, especially for rental cars and android auto since it's luck of the draw.
Keep it in mind its just USB2 speeds though, not USB3. This is fine for android auto but might not be the best for everyday data transfer.

unless significant manufacturing inconsistencies, this sounds like user error. Both of mine fit snugly with a snap into the adapter and I don't usually pull on the wire when using my phone/tablet/etc. I can see where it can pull loose and separate, but usually at a similar force that would pull out USB-C as well.
