So I've owned the OpenRun, OpenRun Pro and OpenRun Pro 2's. IMO the Pro 2's are 3x as good as the OpenRun and 2x as good as the Pro as the Pro 2's are now just speakers pointed into your ears and not just bone conduction like all previous models. They still have a bone conduction mode, but I personally recommend going with the Pro 2's generally.

I think the only drawback is that the water resistance is not as good on the new ones, because of the speakers and because they use USB charging instead of proprietary magnetic connector. But these address complaints about the sound and convenience, so presumably it's a trade-off most people would take.

I've heard the Costco SE version is not compatible with the Shokz app. Is that still the case, and is the app interface important for most users?

I have the openrun, openrun pro. I was thinking of going with the openfit 2. What do you think? I have like 3 openrun and 1 openrun pro. I wanted somethign with a bit more depth in the sound. I don't need booming base but the openrun just seems flat, the openrun pro has slightly better sound.

The Costco SE is just a rebranded OpenRun. The app is compatible with only the OpenRun Pro series AFAIK.

Looking for advice.. Why this Vs. The $20 random branded options I see on Amazon?

Sorry... you are saying out of the 3 bone conduction headphones, the one that's essentially not bone-conduction is 2-3 times better than the 2 that are truly bone condution. Right?

I'm also curious, I've had the $20 to $30 ones on Amazon before. Are these really that much better to justify the cost?

Just my two cents. I prefer these (OpenRun) over the OpenRun Pro. The bone conduction on the latter isn't as strong as the former, but the latter has speakers pointed at your ears.
The net result is that the OpenRun Pro is harder to hear (for me, YMMV). At the start line of the Boston Marathon, for example, they were so quiet I couldn't even hear them turning on (thought the battery was dead). Sure, it was noisy, but I've never had that same problem with the OpenRun. I keep the OpenRun Pro as a backup, but the OpenRun is what I go to for my daily runs. FWIW.

This. And the Openrun have better waterproof. For my use, running and biking, the Openrun turned out to be the best option. I had the pro and returned them to buy another set of non-pro version
I have both the SE from Costco and the Openrun directly from Shokz. I can't tell one from the other. Also, the mini fit way better for me. I can use them also when sleeping or on airplane because of the tighter fit.
Incidentally, I owned almost every model of Shokz since the Titanium. The Openrun so far is the best for my application.

IMO definitely. I didn't actually see that one posted. It's $55 more than here though.

IMO the Pro 2's are twice as good as the Pro 1's in sound quality. That's just my opinion though. Best Buy might have them on display to test out in store - just bring some lysol wipes in lol. They're on sale there for $130 right now though.
