All listed handhelds can reliably emulate most retro consoles up to the PS1 / Game Boy Advance (including SNES, Genesis, etc.). Some Nintendo DS is also possible, but limited by the lack of touchscreen and some DS titles requiring both screens to be displayed simultaneously (i.e. Contra 4, Yoshi's Island DS & some others). A limited selection of N64, PSP and Dreamcast is playable, but do not expect very many (these are aimed at being ideal up to PS1/GBA).

Shipping is free (ships from within the U.S.) | Free 90-dayt returns
  • Codes may only be valid for select accounts but should work for most

Definitely recommend the TrimUI Smart Pro. This thing is WELL worth $41.

Excellent built quality, great screen, and it has KNULLI support that opens up Portmaster and other things. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with mine (especially playing GBA games on it).

Cons are that the sticks aren't excellent and pretty tiny but the majority of the games you'd likely be playing on here aren't stick-heavy and also the widescreen format means that many retro games won't use the whole screen. This didn't bother me at all but I know it can be a turn-off to some people.

If those don't bother you, then I highly recommend this handheld, especially if you're new to the hobby.

Echo this, great device. I think I paid somewhere in tht mid $40 range last year, totally worthwhile.

How does this compare to the RG40XXH? I just bought one, so is it worth it to return it and get this?

I picked up a Smart Pro about a month ago and Im having issues with some games loading. After some research it looks like the issue is the micro sd is cheap and causes some errors after some time(files corrupt). Factor in the price of a quality micro sd to go along with it and copy everything over to the new card and you should be solid.

Very good summary.

Minor correction in that Portmaster does not require Knulli or any custom OS. It is possible to use on the stock firmware.

Whatever OS is used, this device will support slightly fewer ports than other devices, so if someone if interested in specific ports, they should check compatibility first.

Are you talking about TrimUI Smart Pro or other Anbernic devices?

I bought the ambernic RG40XXH, but it seems like this one has a better battery and screen? I'm brand new to this so forgive my ignorance.

Compared to RG40XXH, TrimUI Smart Pro has a larger screen (4.96" vs. 4") with higher resolution (720p 16:9 vs. 480p 4:3). It also has a faster A133P CPU clocked at 1.8GHz (vs. 1.5Ghz H700). But it still can only emulate up to PSP & Dreamcast games.

The downside is Portmaster has worse compatibility on Allwinner A133P devices (use "Devices" button here to check compatibility: https://portmaster.games/games.html). Another thing is TrimUI Smart Pro's analog sticks do not click (basically no L3/R3). It's not a real problem for those retro systems it can emulate (very few games on them use L3/R3). But if you use the device for PC game streaming, it can be.

I also thought about switching to TrimUI Smart Pro. But in the end, I decided to stick with RG40XXH for a couple of reasons (L3/R3, smaller size for better portability, 4:3 screen for the type of retro games I want to play, more actively-maintained custom OS options, easier to move things around between my RG40XXH and RG34XXSP since they use the same SoC).

Size comparison: https://youtu.be/67Qld1v1e6Q?t=80

PSP games do look better on TrimUI Smart Pro with larger screen and no black borders.

Hi desidanger and StarfirePrime Sorry for the hassle. I seem to be getting free shipping on my end.

Just wanted to check: Is the additional charge listed as a shipping fee or is it sales tax? Usually, when I click on the little question mark icon next to 'additional fee' (via desktop PC), it only shows the applicable state sales tax there. Thanks!

Got ya! I think I'll just stick to my RG40XXH. I don't think it's worth all the hassle of returning and reordering. Thank you!
