This brings back memories of Blockbuster total access which is the monthly unlimited rental subscription. I would rent a movie everyday and make a copy on a dvd-r disc.

$9. That's incredible! I burned my first cd in years the other day for a police report. Something like this could come in handy even today.

Not the Kansas City police! LOL I offered them to burn a CD or DVD of a few videos of someone stealing stuff out of cars in our neighborhood, and the detective asked if I could bring it in via USB stick, or upload them through their website. Their computers have been upgraded and none have CD/DVD drives any more.

I also sent the files via a link he gave me. I didn't have a thumb drive I could afford to part with at the time.

In this age & time, why would you use a DVD to backup anything. For archiving M-Disc (BDXL) is the media of choice with an advertized life of 1000 yrs not to mention you can go upto 100GB on a single disc.

Most M-Discs are also readable by DVD players. Get a internal/external M-Disc compatible Blu-ray writer and you have future proofed diuc archival for another decade.

Ah, the good times.

I know someone who had a 3 movie rental plan at BB and he exchanged movies on a daily basis. When a BB employee asked him how he managed to watch all flicks in a day, he blurted, who watches em, I copy now and watch later with my buds/family. He was immediately banned but circumvented it by using one membership from another familymember, but, he never went back to that one BB store again. There were dozens of them at the time.

The summer after my first year of teaching, I'd go two or three times a day when I got a new spindle!
