Good to hear, this one caught my eye because it is made by a good brand Lenovo, reasonable CPU (i5 11th gen equivalent) has 16gb and has decent intergrated graphics power for light gaming. The main issues is the 256gb hard drive but can be upgraded for reasonable money. When you are looking for under $300 for a laptop there are always some compromises, but this one is pretty solid.

Add 4.9/5 star reviews and this might be exactly what you are looking for.

i5? it's ryzen 3...be a great deal if i5
This Ryzen 3 is equivalent to an 11th generation i5, namely it beats the i5-1135G7.

Like he said, a high school laptop 🤣
It wills surf the web, run google, office and even do light gaming. Plus being a low power CPU it will have a great battery life, they claim 8-9hrs but take that with a grain of salt.

I am wanting to get a basic laptop for my wife for her work. will consist mainly of emails, Internet browsing, basic Google Docs, Google Sheets, Microsoft office work, a lot of Zoom calls etc.
Zero gaming or anything else I would think as anything overly intensive .
Would this meet those needs? I want to get something fairly decent but I don't need to break the bank to get more than she needs

thanks

This will do everything you described without issue. As long as she is not storing a lot of photos this should work great.

More money will get you something faster but not sure if spending another $200 would be needed in her case.

If she does a ton of Zoom calls you may want to buy and external camera/mic that clips to the top of the laptop. You can get them fairly cheap but no matter what laptop they tend to perform better as a mic and camera. I would try the built in one first though to see if she is happy with it.

No, you will fill miserable because of the display quality. Needs to be IPS, and it's possible to find one with IPS in this price range.
Keep looking.

Not necessarily. IPS is great for TVs and desktop monitors because it gives you a wide viewing angle. (Dell even markets their IPS screens as WVA.) However, if you travel a lot maybe you don't want everyone on the plane to be able to see what you are working on. Given that most people sit directly in front of their laptops while working, a TN screen (if bright enough) should be fine. Also, out of curiosity, I fact checked you on the ease of finding a laptop at the $300 level with similar specs and an IPS screen. I could not find a single one that was in-stock. But please feel free to prove me wrong and post a link to one.

you sound like a person who never seen TN and IPS laptops side by side - trust me, it's not just a viewing angle

For google and office I am pretty sure TN is fine.

Or to go down the road why IPS... OLED is the only way to go... TN works fine for a lot of use cases.
