Another option is to get Amazon Echo devices. Those things will sync with the doorbell and can also play a chime letting you know somebody rang the doorbell. It also has the added functionality of being a speaker, etc... just an option.

So what value would this really be if I have Echo devices already?

i have ring but have google home because i wanted to keep security separate from my smart home as a preference. good for me. also you can put it in rooms where you want a chime and not an echo.

I've been with ring since gen1 of these chimes. They are TRASH - they have broken and lost connection.

Get an Echo, enable the setting in alexa where it will show you a video and alert you audibly when someone rings a doorbell.

Firetv sticks also alert you but my use case is you can change the ring tone to cool stuff like spooky for Halloween and sleigh bells for Christmas. This is in addition to what is written above. It's worth the 20 to 30 for this but there are other solutions that you probably already have

Anybody know if I can have this and a regular mechanical chime? Or you can only have either one of them connected?

Yep. Our Chime broke about a year after we bought it. It wouldn't power on at all. Been using our Echo devices ever since and they work better than this, although I suppose a bit more expensive.
