Hocking is a terrible name for a cookware company.

The Boeing Company is named after its founder, William Boeing.

Let's check a random review from Kohl's:

"Within a week of purchasing my bread pan exploded in my oven! I contacted customer service and got a decent email back. Within that time frame almost all of the other glassware has cracks some the whole way through. I've been trying for over a month to get in contact with the manufacturer to no avail. Buyer beware!!!"

Sounds fun! HARD PASS.

Problems "could" be related to the composition of the glass. The old formula was made from borosilicate vs today's soda-lime. Some believe the old formulation was more resistant to thermal shock but I've never come across a head to head comparison.

Borosilicate glass is used in lab glassware. It has a high resistance to thermal expansion which makes it ideal for things that undergo rapid changes in temperature, like baking something out of the freezer.

Pyrex used to make glassware from borosilicate glass but today uses soda-lime (regular) glass.

Oxo still sells borosilicate glassware. But it is more expensive.
