I got two of these a couple years ago for my kids rooms. They work well but there is a big flaw. The eco mode does not run the fan randomly to get an accurate measure of temperature. So there are times where it can get 5 or 6* warmer than it's set to before it kicks on making it really unusable in eco mode. I ended up taking apart the front and dangling the temperature probe into the room to get more accurate readings

Nice. Was just looking for a small unit to run from my EV via an inverter for hurricane season. This is about $30-40 less than similar units I was looking at at Lowes.

Back in 1991 Al Bundy bought an AC for $50.

It was the best $50 he ever spent and a pride of WW2 Germany technology.

Pro tip if you have access to drill a deep hole in the ground and $700 including the cost of this unit. Increase cooling power/efficiency by 2.5X. It's also quieter. I.E. 400watts. Now that's something you can power for a while with a decent power station. Turns this into a 12,500 BTU unit.

Actually this looks identical to the unit they used.

Yea, depending on how much you run this AC and the cost of electricity in your area, it might be more cost effective over the life of the unit to spring for a higher efficiency one. I've been reading about potential HUGE INCREASES in the cost of electricity now and in the coming years.

I have a perfectly working 12K BTU in my living room that I have been thinking about replacing for one of the more efficient U style AC's. That unit at Costco Midea 12K BTU is tempting but I don't feel like dealing with the install right now.

Seems like no trouble at all! I'll try it from my second floor apartment, I'm sure the property owners wouldn't mind a giant hole in their driveway!

This video was FASCINATING! I'll never do anything like this, but I learned a lot about the concepts involved.
