Good deal but I'm guessing most people on the ecosystem already have the driver. If it was the drill I'd go for it, mine is the crappy one from the kit.

Do the combo (drill+driver) go on sale?

Starting a new ecosystem for Kobalt (had a good experience at my parents house) and want to maximize the dollars. No urgency whatsoever to purchase.

We often get the "buy one tool get another for free" deal, the cheapest I think was $89. Although the tool selection is limited on the free tool, I think both the driver and drill are always selectable.

What do you mean "wrench driver"? Looks like an impact just like in this deal.

Yes they are, what are you on about? Pretty much all of kobalt's 24V lineup is brushless. We get a very popular deal every so often where you buy one of the tools and they give you another one of your choosing for free.

xtr is the newer and more expensive line of kobalt tools and batteries. They're supposed to be an upgrade in power and output over the basic lineup. I have never used the xtr tools but the basic 24V is very good for your average DIYer. Xtr is also backwards compatible with the non-xtr tools and batteries btw.

They may be newer per se, but it seems the max line is for a homeowner while the xtr is professional grade (at least that's how it seems to be marketed or whatever). There's no signs that the max line of tools is going to be replaced by xtr either. They wouldn't feature both on their pamphlets when you buy one of their tools (they have all the xtr crap on top).

As I was responding to the other guy, the xtr seems to be their professional grade of tools, not a replacement from what I can tell. They're also priced accordingly but from the handful of stuff I tried out of theirs, the max line is perfectly fine for whatever you need to do around the house.

Yes, I'm in the process of replacing my makita stuff with Kobalt (I have some failing makita batteries and I've also gotten sticker shock looking at some of the makita crap - and it's not as great as it used to be to justify the prices they're asking for). But I would like a leaf blower and string trimmer. The last time they had deals they didn't offer nearly as much as they did back around Christmas. I wanted one of the beefier right angle impacts and that never popped up. Also on my wish list is the bandsaw and sds hammer drill but don't think those would ever be included LOL. They did have a quick sale on the bandsaw for $100 earlier in the year but missed that somehow.
