It doesn't have to be that dramatic. You want to do it in step. First probably 150, then 200, then 240. Doing it one step @ 240 is risky. This is esp. so for something with low torque settings. Also don't forget to turn the TW up and down a few times before using it. That gives it some stretch and it gets a bit more precise.

I did 100, 150, 200 and then 240. 240 was work with the limited clearance.

I bought the 1/2 inch earlier this year to put on my new harmonic balancer on my 07 Corvette. Its well built for this price point, definitely better than the Amazon ones at $50-$60

The relief of finally hearing that click at 240 ft/lb, phew. I remember it like it was yesterday.

careful with this torque , i used it on a transfer case sensor and i broke the sensor inside the transfer case.... It's not as accurate as it seems, don't go cheap... if it was on a engine , i be screw... but luckily it was just the sensor at 40 ft p

Stick to a quality beam torque wrench. Real time indication of the applied torque. Strength of materials is bomb proof. I've rebuilt many engines with the same Craftsman USA beam torque wrench.

I use a torque wrench on cylinder head bolts and crank shaft bolt. Virtually all other fasteners by feel. Make sure all surfaces are clean. Do not apply lubricant.

I love my Pittsburgh. I've been using it for my wheels and so far so good.

You used this 50 ft. /lbs to 250 ft. /lbs torque wrench to tighten a 40 ft./lbs sensor?

I had both of the 1/2 and 3/8 husky torque wrench... I didn't use it the 3/8 torque because i didnt have have the right deep socket for it. That's why i used the 1/2 inch and broke the sensor inside the transfercase, for my lug nutts it works great.. just not for low settings, you will break bolts and nutts if not careful.. this was the second time it happen to me while using the 1/2 inch

Then you really cannot complain. The tool is at most as intelligent as the user.
