Sage and forest greens are favorite color for almost anything from cars to clothes.
With outerwear, my rule is "anything but black."
Winter is already dark and cold, why make it worse?
Edit: the blue is a little shiny and intense, IMO. Still fine for half of California to wear when it drops below 70

Even though only the green and blue colors are on sale online, I was able to buy a black version in store (Orange County, CA) for the same price. I think they also had a dark gray version in the store.

I was always hesitant to pull the trigger on an expensive lightweight jacket like this. After purchasing one last year I would say it warms very well for its weight.
While my input may not be as helpful as I've mostly used it for Florida winters and the occasional trip up to northern states, I can say I was comfortable all last season on even the coldest days here without the need for layers. I layered for casual winter use in colder climates and was happy to not have the bulk.
