Cup noodle versions of the same ramen are always slightly different. They have to adjust the noodles in it in order for the cup version to be able to cook and taste similar while not being boiled in water for the 4-5 minutes that you can boil it on a stove top. I believe the noodles usually have a slightly different makeup to them. Usually the packaged stove top version will taste "better", but you can't beat the convenience of cup ramen.

More convenient but not as good as the packs you cook yourself.

I, respectfully, disagree that the bowl is not as good as the 'cook yourself' product. I've had both and I would opt for the bowl because it's extremely convenient.
I don't need a pot to boil water and watch the stove for awhile... then clean up everything (not that it's a huge problem). For times that I just want a quick fill-up, the bowled BLACK is a perfect few microwave minutes away from deliciousness... especially if I include last night's leftovers.
Yes, I'm aware of the sodium levels on both items. To be honest, both are very good (oooh, that bone broth powder is addictive!), but the convenience of the micro-bowl just makes it a win for me.

I prefer cup ones as noodle is harder

I think you guys are in agreement that it's more convenient - noting no disagreement.

Looks like CyanCheetah is just saying the package variant tastes better presumably due to the ability to customize to one's preferences better.

The package has more, and I find it to taste better. This could just be me, but I like the noodle in the package much more.

Shin Ramen Black @ $1.25 is an amazing deal, and you should be stocking up. Normal price at Grocery Outlet, or Asian Stores is $2-$2.50 a pack. If they had a extended expiration (more than 1 year, because these usually go on sale when they have 6 months left) I would probably buy the entire shelf.

You are 100% it has more. But is 1.08oz really that much more?
