TL;DR - if you REALLY want to learn (or have a child learn) an instrument and not give up, don't cheap out on it. A good instrument will hold their value pretty well as long as you take care of the instrument.
I don't want to get into a pissing match over a cheap Chinese Violin, but….
I can't vouch for this one, reviews seem low …in the 3's
I did buy this one for my 9 year olds school band: https://a.co/d/cgGm07s
It's slightly better rated but twice this one's price. Its reviews seem mostly positive. You have to understand what you're buying. It's not a hand crafted European instrument. It's cheap and it can play in tune. One of the reviews for the one I bought was from a violinist that said they had an expensive one for performances for daily beating and practice they used the cheap one. It's fine for technique and for kids that are not prodigies.
My daughter's band class suggested renting for $30/month from a local musical instrument store. Others did that. My daughter's teacher said her cheap Chinese one was one of the best in the class. It's held up well for 3 years of a kid's abuse.

Beginner violins run several hundreds of dollars. If you aren't paying $300-$500 on your first violin then you are buying a piece of garbage.
is this legit?
Legitimately cheap and crappy.

One might say you're VI-curious??? Right?

Modern musical instrument manufacturing is very nearly a miracle.
