It's not a bad idea for anyone to have a window unit or 2 as a backup if you are willing to make the investment and have the space to store them. Something to get you by if your main system goes down...and can even pay for themselves not having to pay for rushed service like off hours/weekends, or giving you time to research and find the right contractor/deal if needing a full replacement vs whoever comes along that can slam something in the soonest. Then of course if you live in a storm prone area or otherwise have extended power outages, it's something you can use on a smaller generator when you can't power your main system/whole house.

If needed, I'd prefer a fancier one, but this is a fine price if fits your needs. Repped.

Amazing price. Almost would buy as an insurance policy at this price.

This is for a small room, real small. I tried a 5k in a small bedroom and it barely kept up.

I have an off brand of this made by the same manufacturer and the mechanical "temp" dial is the worst. Even after owning multiple units across many years, I still haven't figured out how to get it to hold a steady temp with the 1-10 "temp" setting. It feels like above a certain point in the dial, it continuously cools and below it never cools. So in a small room, I'm constantly turning it up and down from it being too hot or cold.
If you just need a unit to go full blast, this is fine. If you want to have a unit hold a temp over time, esp in a small enclosed room, get one with a digital thermometer setting.

If only there was something in the title saying "for Small Rooms up to 150 sq ft."

*BTW, 150 sq ft is roughly 12x12...which is pretty small by American home standards.

There are two posts about this unit at this time of writing. Some additional from GE's website:

CEER 11.0
Cooling - Rated Cooling Amps AHAM 4.6
Cooling - Watts 440
Sound Level (Low/High) 50/56 dbA
Voltage (MAX) 115 V

With various windows A/C deals happening lately, energy usage can be a helpful deciding factor.

Although the price is attractive, for long term use, the CEER rating makes an impact to your wallet. You can find a calculator online and I suggest add another 3-10% to your local electricity rate to get an idea.

EDIT: For comparison, Costco's Midea 12,000 BTU unit has CEER of 15.
For short term use, the 440W rating is nice if your generator has a limit on load.

I think it is prob bad for a bedroom to install an AC without an inverter. Probably wont stop throughout the night, likely pretty noisy too

Fantastic deal for being delivered to your home and boxed up ready for the next power outage. As a Louisiana native, the importance of having a generator and window unit for hurricane season is key to either being a miserable sleepless mess or not while the power company does their work. It's not a very big unit, but should keep a room cool until everything is back up and running.

Does your AC have a plug powerloss restart delay? If not, then a smart switch with a remote Bluetooth thermometer will keep the room temperature exact.

Only problem is that some have a 5 minute compressor protection restart delay on power on, causing annoying delay when switching power using a smart plug.
