I hate to fart in anyone's soup bowl, but this deal comes up about every week or two on Going/Scotts.

It's almost random which of those deals make it to SD because honestly, almost all of them are FP-worthy. Not a plug, but we've subscribed for a year ($50) and it's paid for itself a dozen times over.

Edit: if you're really patient they occasionally have deals to Wellington, which is a much better location if you want to hit both islands with less hassle, fewer flights. AKL is way up near the northern tip, fwiw.

Once I get there can I just kinda...stay, commit a bunch of crimes and have them put me up gratis in a hotel? I was leaning hard towards Paris but at this price point it's definitely a contender, the checked bag is like icing on the cake...

That's how the International Date Line works.

All these years I thought it was just an easy way to talk to mail-order brides.

What's the opposite of skip lagging if I just want to do the 2nd half of the trip and only do the connecting flight out of SFO?

They would know if I didn't take the ATL flight and give a stand by person my SFO flight?

It was faster to search this deal on Google flights.

For those of you wondering what this would cost in United Miles and is a better deal to pay with cash or miles?

Example dates 2/17/2026 - 2/24/2026

ATL - AKL 43,700 United miles
AKL - ATL 30,000 United miles
===================================
73,700 total miles + $101.41 taxes & fees

Cash vs miles, for this particular deal cash is the better value.

There must be more midgets on this site than I imagined because flying for 16-20 hours straight in coach is not my idea of a good time. If you're going that far, do yourself a favor and get the extra legroom. Flying in coach to New Zealand? You may as well be standing the whole way.

Agree..but it's a 5x the cost...lmk why you are on slickdeals.

If I could fly business or first class for everything I wouldn't be here.

I fly business-class to Japan every year and I'm here. I'm just saying that, if you're short enough, it's a good deal. For those of us over 6 feet tall, it's quite painful flying such long distances in economy or even premium economy. I don't fly business to Japan because I want to. I do it because I have to.

This is the end of summer in the southern hemisphere, so it is of interest.

For a fare differential of $2K or $3K, I can stay awake for 18 hours. Get up when my legs start hurting, walk a few laps up & down the aisle, do a few squats & calf raises in the open area at the back of the aircraft.
