The write up on this post says it has FALD, but rtings says it has no local dimming. Not sure who to believe. Also rtings did not review the 100" model so that could be causing the difference

dealfreaks you have linked the wrong rtings model. The Best Buy write up for this tv confirms it does have Full array local dimming

That's last year's model... the QD7F review for 2025 has not been published yet. It will have better contrast due to local dimming for sure.

That Rtings review is for the Hisense 65" 2024 model (QD7N) that has an IPS panel, not mini-led, and no local dimming. The 2025 QD7QF Series in this thread is a completely different TV... which Rtings has not yet reviewed. Rtings does have a QD7QF in their lab, but I doubt it's the 100".

It has full-array local dimming with 240 dimming zones.

I pulled the trigger on the lower grade 100" hisense u76 for $1400. I upgraded from a 13 year old 60" Samsung plasma. This is my first ever 4k TV. Let me tell you I was shocked at the beautiful picture quality and sheer size. I did have to do a bit of research at the AVS forums to calibrate the picture.

I can't imagine what the picture quality would be compared to mini-LED or OLED.

IPS and mini-LED are not mutually exclusive. IPS, VA, TN, etc. are LCD panel technologies, and mini LED is a backlight technology.
