Idk. I mean video game can be an expensive hobby especially when one buy too maany cheap games AND when it doesn't get completed in a timely manner. I think it an individual issue. Not the hobby itself.
I personally like to rent X games at a flat rate charge in a monthly basis, knowing that I won't be at loss compared to buying several games and then resell them for a loss. Too bad Blockbuster, Hollywood Video, and Redbox are long gone. Libraries and GameFly remained.

I have only beaten Paper Mario 64, the first Mario and Luigi game, and Paper Mario Origami King. I have at least started TTYD, the one with Baby Mario and Baby Luigi, Super Paper Mario, and Paper Mario Color Splash.
Paper Mario 64 was the original in the series and beloved. A majority of people seem to think TTYD expanded on 64 while being a true sequel… then Nintendo messed with the formula. The only reason I slowed/stopped playing TTYD I have it on GameCube and do not use the TV it is on much (wife and kids are usually on the other). The others I have played just got to a point where I had something else I was more interested in and didn't go back.
