This is a great drive, the dreamless folks are too busy running benchmarks versus actually using their computer.
Agreed..... Benchmarks are just a indicator, and should not be the final factor for choosing a drive.
But.... While I have no dog in this fight and have a WD 850x, this drive is a decent performer that requires PCIe 5 to really matter. Disclaimer - I'm NOT a gamer....
From what I've seen, it appears that there are a lot of gen 4 drives out there that will match or beat this, including the Gen 4 Samsung 990 Pro (I have a 2 and 4TB versions) as well as the Evo Plus.
I have a new laptop (Dell Pro Max Premium. Uggg, what a name. Think old "Precision") and though it has fast Thunderbolt 4 and 5 data ports, the SSD architecture is still gen 4. When it comes down to it, does Gen 5 really matter for most of us besides "efficiency"?

would this be a good boot drive for windows 11? or would one with dram be better? I think my Samsung took a dump, my computer blue screened after a windows update and I cannot get any recovery options to work.

DRAMless won't really matter for this drive. it's as fast as the high end 4x and most users aren't going to be doing anything that requires DRAM.

what do you use windows 11 for. most people don't need dram. it's a good fast drive on par with the 990 pro.
