Western Digital's official site has WD Gold Enterprise Class SATA HDD - 14TB (Model Number: WD141KRYZ) [westerndigital.com]for $229.99 with free shipping after apply the code WDGOLD.

Seems like a decent deal for a brand new enterprise grade hard drive with a 5 year warranty. It's better buying this rather than a heavily abused "refurbished drive" that has been heavily used and abused in a corporate environment for years IMO.

They should make a WD sugarcoated candy version.

Yeah, WD's nomenclature is a bit ridiculous, but I'm inferring that Gold is the best drive they make; even better than the Red Pros.

Regardless of the colorful and somewhat annoying terminology, IMO it's preferable and sensible to buy this rather than a corporate-used drive that's been heavily abused for years. IMO this is the drive you want for 24/7 NAS RAID use, as normal consumer-grade drives can't take the abuse, and "refurbished" drives aren't that much cheaper anyway...
