Almost all brewed soy sauces will say they are brewed (naturally, traditionally, specially, etc.). If it doesn't say it it's almost always not brewed.

If you like that Kikkoman flavor you will be disappointed in this as it pretty flavorless.
I prefer the walmart brand over this any day.

Depending on your taste buds, you may like it or hate it. Soy sauce is so important in imparting flavors to food that I don't think cheapening makes sense. I'd stick to Kikkoman or Chinese brands. Chinese brands are cheap enough as it is. I like simple ingredients. This specific ones has extra ingredients like monosodium glutamate and caramel color which makes me suspicious of this product.

All soy sauce contain MSG naturally. It's literally impossible to make soy sauce without MSG occurring naturally during the fermentation process. Some brands do have "added MSG" on top of the natural MSG, however. But there is no chemical difference between "added MSG" and natural MSG. Both are created by fermentation process.
If you don't see MSG listed as an ingredient on a soy sauce, it's because FDA does not require it to be listed if it occurred naturally in the manufacturing process.

Completely agree. To me it was more than just pretty flavorless. It was completely flavorless.

Properly made soy sauce shouldn't need added caramel color or MSG. If you're OK with the stuff you get in takeout packets go for it, but I wouldn't.

Nah, this is vs real brewed soy sauce is like the room-temp powdered "parmesan" shaker "cheese" vs. fresh-grated Parmigiano-Reggiano. Sure, it's cheap, but man, you gotta love yourself more than that.

Not what I would use for cooking, but good enough for jerky.

Wrong. Dark soy sauce always contains caramel coloring even if made "properly" with highest standards. And some of the best soy sauce brands in Asia have added MSG for more flavor.

This is basic. It's better than paying $10 for a bottle of soy. In for 1. Thanks OP.
