The Vault series is the bottom tier fyi, I couldn't believe how cheap this was since I just sold a used 1535 for almost twice this but then I remembered that the vaults are thinner and not waterproof, just "resistant". I actually have a long gun case that is the vault series and it's not horrible but way flimsier than my other pelican cases. Just don't buy this to kayak off a waterfall with or anything.

Spend $30 more and get the Harbor Freight Apache roll-on. It's more weather resistant and waterproof at IP65 rated. It also meets the exact carry-on size requirement for flying.

It is exactly the same as the Pelican 1510 case ($250 ish) which is a big step up in quality from this one if you're looking to keep your gear 100% dry.

The Apache cases are very nice for the money and well regarded. See link below for $100 if waterproof matters to you.

Got the last one from them 59.95 in grey fyi - great case. Not pelican air top tier level but compared to any other carry on it's basically bombproof and way overkill for socks and underwear. I use for photo equipment without concern (even wet)

The APACHE 5800 is a great case, I was able to buy one for $50 (SD deal) back in January.

Still not as good as pelican as they're made in the USA. Get the pelican when they're on sale. Can't beat them.

So ignore all the better specs and better price (when a deal is to be had) solely because made in the USA. Great logic.
