Cut line is the major one, which to anyone skilled with a miter saw knows it's not a make or break option. Been using the 779 for the better part of a decade now and never once felt like I was missing out on that functionality (plus, if I wanted it, they sell kids to swap out the handle for one with the xps positioning on it)

If you want a stand, none of these come with a good stand anyways so buy a good one instead.

For those that want the shadow line, you can add it to the 779 (basically making it an 780). I did this to my 779 and I really like having the shadow line. Could I do without it, sure, but it does help in lining up the cut.
