Amazing deal on the K1 Max.
I got the same refurb from the same seller last year for just under $500 and it's been a solid printer. I've had a few issues (mainly due to user error), and did a warranty claim, and ended up getting refunded for my purchase -- I then ordered the parts myself and fixed it myself.. Mine only had a 1 year warranty.

With the 2 year warranty this comes with, it's a no brainer.

a really good large format printer, but if you want multicolor I would not do it. The filament waste is egregious.

Does this specific printer waste more filament than others with multicolor?

At Microcenter, many Creality 3d printers are returned because of calibration issues.

Former Creality owner, current BambuLab owner here. I can't speak to the long term reliability of these K series Creality units, but I think there's a reason you're finding countless refurb units flooding the market. My experience with BambuLab hasn't been perfect, but the overall performance and reliability is a generation ahead. I had hoped the K2 units would introduce more competition into the marketplace, but I see so many 3D print subreddit's with user gripes and complaints.

All of that said, if you don't mind tinkering and troubleshooting, that K1 max looks like a killer deal for a single color large format printer.

Currently multi color is wasteful in its current state but looks like a lot of companies are looking address that issue with new models coming out end of year/next year. Snapmaker with that kickstarter and Bambu talking abou thte H2C

Thanks for clarifying. Probably not fair to knock a $350 printer because it doesn't have a feature that a $1000 unreleased printer has. Just wondering if this one was worse than my Bambu A1 for some reason.

To your point, these multi-filament systems also make swapping filament or automatic run out swapping a breeze. I mostly use that feature with my multi color printers anyways. Occasionally ill print the one off multi color piece or paint something in the slicer myself while optimizing the amount of filament switches. But you're right with the new multi tool head printers coming to market, the waste will be a lot more tolerable even on intricate multi color models.

Nope it waste the same because its just purging filament on every color swap. As a 3d hobbyist I dont think waste is a big deal if you rarely print multicolor. However, if you're a business or running a print farm. The savings in filament does add up

Yeah I rarely print in multicolor so I tend to treat them as filament drybox and pretty much run 2 of the same color side by side to auto refill

I'm tempted to risk a refurb for a K1 max. It's a good size upgrade over my current FF 5M.

In my experience, Creality customer service has been top notch in handling issues if they surface. Minimal risk here but I understand the hesitation.
