I keep seeing these new posts for retro emulation handhelds from AliExpress. Yet my post for popular Powkiddy handhelds at all-time low prices is suppressed; it can only be found by searching for it. There's practically zero exposure. If I didn't find the deal on my own, I would have wanted the community to share it. SD used to be about helping others get deals. Clearly that's no longer the focus. Now I'm wondering what other deals I'm missing out on because SD hides them.

i bought one of those yesterday too based off your post.... and I agree it's odd it's not getting any love considering specs, price and cfw options (gammaos or rocknix). ..... however I'm prob buying this one too which is also gama os compatible 😂

Hi xDD90x I'm really sorry to hear that. I first want you to know that I personally appreciate you contributing to the forums (and I'm confident that the rest of SD's staff shares that sentiment). Thanks for posting this head's up here and bringing it to my attention. I'm not the Mod who moved the thread from the Hot Deals forum to the Marketplace Deals forum; but upon a quick glance, the only thing I can suspect is that the seller there is shipping from China.

The June 9th, 2025 update to the SD guidelines limits what we are allowed to post from AliExpress these days to sellers that ship from U.S.-based warehouses (the product page shows "Free shipping. Ship from United States" with a little U.S. flag icon). I believe the update came behind trying to navigate the ever-evolving tariff situation. If I may, I would recommend visiting your thread again, then clicking 'Mod Alert' to inquire about what exactly happened; but that is my suspicion. Thanks!

FYI. There's a RG557 model. It's a pretty big update.

Thanks for your constructive reply. I didn't realize the other handhelds ship from the US. That's helpful information. Much appreciated!

Just happy I was able to help a little Sorry again about the hassle. It's unfortunate because I used to post Powkiddy devices, but it seems most of the stores that carry them ship from China The very few that do have limited inventory that ships from within the U.S. all add shipping charges that end up killing the deal (even with coupons). It's why I mostly only post U.S.-shipped Anbernic, MagicX and Miyoo devices nowadays; given Powkiddy is generally off-limits now. Good deals on those models you shared, though. Thanks again!

Overpriced. Worth maybe $90 at best at this point.

The least expensive listing I'm currently seeing on AliExpress that ships from the U.S. (via a reputable seller) is $218.38 w/ code AEUS32 (link [aliexpress.us]).

If you can get the order total up to $259 (add something cheap from another reputable U.S.-based seller), code REDDIT45 will take $45 off.

I'd say buy the one that matches whatever screen ratio you plan to play and how much you plan to tote it around. If 90% of your games are 4:3 or 3:2, you may be better off with the 406H even if the screen is smaller. For 4:3 content, you may end up with a similar sized (usable) screen. Especially if portability is a concern (as someone who owned the RG406H....while smaller than the RG556, it isn't pocket friendly even if half the size

I bought one of these last year at around the same price and I really enjoyed my time with it. Solid device that goes up to (most) PS2/Gamecube as some people have already mentioned.

Pros: EXCELLENT Ergonomics and a screen that punches above it's weight class. Plays a ton of stuff.
Cons: Shoulder buttons are kind of loud and my right shoulder button would stick a lot. The thumbsticks are also not the greatest but are serviceable for sure.

For anyone who ends up with this, if you find the sticks to be a problem, Gulikit sells a set of sticks to replace them with. The sticks that come with them have a cardinal direction snapping issue though, if I'm not mistaken, that has also been largely addressed via a fix by the GammaOS developer (https://www.reddit.com/r/SBCGamin...ust_fixed/)

For $122, This is an excellent device. I wouldn't hold my breath on a deal for the 557 for quite a while 😉
