Came here to say essentially the same thing. The 2-year warranty you get when buying directly from UI is generally worth any money saved buying from a reseller and only getting the standard 1-year warranty. (source [ui.com])

Whether you actually need that warranty is kind of a crapshoot. I've got a secondhand US-48-500W switch that's around 10 years old and haven't had a bit of trouble with it ever (and it's still supported). I made a big gamble buying that used and out of warranty, but it paid off. I've got tons of other UniFi equipment that's not as old but has also been trouble-free.

On the other hand, I've also gotten no-hassle replacements for two G4 Doorbell Pros and a handful of less memorable cameras over the years that would have been out of warranty if I hadn't purchased directly. It's fair to say that in the long run I've saved (net, including premium from buying directly) hundreds of dollars by having the warranties, but I also buy more than the average consumer. YMMV, etc.

Edited to add link to UI warranty page.

Realize for what you pay UI for shipping you get another year of warranty. (Not sure if that means much if you enroll in the extended service plan things they sell now)

Anyone know if this means they're clearing out these items? The UDM SE should be in line for a refresh any day now....

Great deal on the Cloud Gateway Ultra. I love mine. Only reason I upgraded from the Security Gateway was for the better VPN.

Again, same situation. I love the orbi mesh, but want to upgrade to WiFi 7.

My question is, I've been out of the router game for years. Is this not a mesh router? Do you need access points to replace the mesh satellites for coverage? I'm not familiar with ubiquiti at all...

I'm not sure what you're getting at here. Both Microcenter and direct from UI appear to include a 2 year warranty. But direct from UI is not on sale, whereas Microcenter is. And Microcenter charges less to ship. What am I missing?

UDR7 just came out a few months ago. Other wifi7 gear is still cutting edge and not going to get phased out anytime soon.

Simply put, Micro Center's website is wrong. I know it says there's a 2-year manufacturer warranty, but UI clearly states otherwise (bold added for emphasis):
Quote :
The "Warranty Period" means (a) for Products purchased by the customer directly from UBIQUITI'S Webstores, two years after the date of delivery of such Product to such customer and (b) for Products purchased from an authorized UBIQUITI distributor or reseller, one year after the date of shipment of such Product to such authorized distributor or reseller.
So it's not even a full 1-year warranty from the date of purchase from the reseller but rather a year from when it was shipped to the reseller. You may be able to get Micro Center to replace something because of the misinformation on their website, but UI won't touch it if they shipped it more than a year ago, even if you just bought it yesterday.
