Oddly this unit is already stereo, it just not a great representative of stereo sound due to speaker placement. The interesting choice from here would be two charges, one boombox/partybox. All of which when onsale hit very close to this price point.
Issue with the extreme 4 is it doesn't really have a good price-point. MSRP is close to the Boombox 3. Extra batteries are costly and non-practical as there is not an external charger. It is easier to change batteries, but most JBL units you can replace the battery. This all before considering the Partybox line which is normally considered to have the best sound and normally hits sale prices close to this price-point.
On the other hand this is onsale now. It has both Auracast and PartyBoost you can get a hand strap to make it really easy to carry, assuming you don't prefer the included shoulder strap. It is easier to carry around then the boombox or partybox. It has great battery life. My concerns are black friday pricing for this unit, Partybox, and Boombox 3/4...maybe even the charge line.
