This charger is different, only 2 bays. The 4-bay one I got seems simple, light, well ventilated and works. They don't have to be fancy. It is feeding 5v via USB to the battery. All charging control is IN the battery.

This charger is different, only 2 bays. The 4-bay one I got seems simple, light, well ventilated and works. They don't have to be fancy. It is feeding 5v via USB to the battery. All charging control is IN the battery.

I did see a review that the 1 year self discharge was done. All over the map, but most did not do too well. Xtar was outstanding in both capacity and self discharge, but they are quite expensive.
They can't even get capacity right most of the time. Assuming they 'might' got 1000+ cycles you'd spend almost 3 years cycling them daily to find out.
The reality is that most batteries die at the hands of their (ab)users most of the time. That includes me, and I consider myself knowledgeable and careful.
Preferably lithium should be kept in the 20%-80% charge range. There is absolutely no effective way to even know what charge state these batteries are in except full and empty.

I used to deal with tv panel knockoffs when larger manufacturers, like Samsung, sold rights to other countries to produce them more locally. The math can get really complex; so you you can imagine when you'd have to deal with at the smaller scale of small batteries, and increasingly inferior lithium-ion tech... AND the manufacturer/end-user variables...

mWh is energy and the more meaningful unit. mAh is incomplete information
So 1% of market dictates 99%?.. oligarch much?
Perhaps coloring by numbers suits you best.
